FORMULA One star Jenson Button has given a blood sample to help cops hunt the “gas gang” behind the raid on his villa.
Analysis of fumes breathed into his system could provide a crucial breakthrough in narrowing down suspects.
Cops believe the £300,000 raid bears the hallmarks of Russian Mafia gangs who have already targeted other rich residents in billionaires’ playground Saint-Tropez.
Cops believe two gang members watched the villa for days before launching the raid.
It is claimed they set off a canister of anaesthetic gas into an air-conditioning vent to put the pair into a deep sleep.
Sources in France said the raid was “strikingly similar” to previous robberies by Russian gangs on the wealthy.
Both Jenson and Jessica have had blood samples taken. Philippe Guemas, deputy prosecutor in Draguignan, confirmed: “We have taken samples which will be analysed.”
